Dave Weidner hails from New Jersey, a state not often thought of in terms of great hunting but one that is actually steeped in a solid tradition of waterfowling. Dave first developed his love for the outdoors while learning to bow hunt for whitetails in the pinelands of New Jersey. Then while attending Rutgers University, he met a core group of avid outdoorsmen who further fostered his obsession with the sports of bowhunting, striper fishing and, of course, duck and goose hunting.

In 2001, Dave decided to establish a guide service to cater to the growing needs of waterfowlers in New Jersey. StormOutfitters is now one of the most successful full service goose hunting guide services in the Northeast. With the creation of the StormOutfitter's website, Dave now has a creative outlet to share much of his knowledge of waterfowl hunting and dog training. His site includes field reports, photos of decoy spreads, hunt test scenarios and more. Dave's passion for outdoor writing and photographing gun dogs and geese allows him to spend even more time in the outdoors and is a great asset in his role on the Avery Pro-Staff. His striper fishing and goose hunting tactics have been featured in several outdoor magazines and newspaper columns. In 2005 Dave, along with the professional guides of StormOutfitters, released the well received "Feet Down-Guns Up!" DVD featuring several Avery products.

Dave has been married to his wife Kathy for twelve years and together they have a daughter, Heather. Both Kathy and Heather have been a great source of support and also share a great love of the outdoors. Heather has accompanied her dad on goose hunting trips and has all but mastered the art of surf fishing on the Jersey coast for striped bass.
